Fleming's Steakhouse Thanksgiving Leftovers Recipe + Giveaway

Fleming's Steakhouse Executive Chef Russell Skall has been fortunate enough to share some lovely leftover Turkey recipes just in time for the big day. After looking at all of them, I was immediately drawn to his Turkey Fried Rice recipe because I love fried rice...duh! The recipe is super easy and calls for items that you probably already have in your pantry, or that you can easily grab on a quick run to the grocery store.

Fleming's will be hosting Thanksgiving for the first time this year, with an affordable four-course menu, featuring their Herb Roasted Turkey Breast with a savory gravy. The prix fixe menu will be $39.95 for adults, and $19.95 for children. In addition, this weekend only, the restaurant will offer all wines on their 100 wine list at $10 per glass...Hello happy hour with the siblings and cousins!

Cheddars Inspired Croissants with Honey Butter [gift-card giveaway]

Croissants, Cheddars Scratch Kitchen, Honey Buttered Croissants

If you read my previous post about the Cheddars Scratch Kitchen experience, then you know about their killer honey buttered croissants. I immediately wanted to attempt to make that recipe. I looked up croissant recipes online and got to cookin'. The recipes that I followed were from Gustav S. at Snapguide and Nancy Silverton at Epicurious. There are different croissant doughs, but I was looking for a quick one to enjoy immediately. The croissants turned out amazing, I used Isigny Ste. Mere's unsalted butter and you can really taste the difference.

DoughIngredients:
3 3/4 Cups Flour
1 1/2  Cups Whole Milk, warmed at room temperature
1 Tbsp + 1/4 tsp Dry yeast
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 Tbsp Salt
Unsalted Butter, shaved
1 egg for egg wash

Honey butter spread:
Butter
Honey
Sugar

In a see-through bowl, mix warm milk, sugar and yeast. Cover without moving container until it foams. Then, add flour and salt. Mix everything together with a spoon until dough is smooth. Transfer dough to surface, and knead adding flour as needed. Form dough into a rectangular form, add shaved butter to one side of form, then fold over once. Fold over twice more, from the sides and wrap in clothe or plastic wrap and store in freezer a bit(to allow butter to stay cool).

Take the dough out of freezer and re-do the folding process, add more butter if you want. Wrap dough once more and store in freezer for 20-30 min. In the meantime, ready the sheet pan by lining it with aluminum paper or pan lining and spray with oil. Remove the dough from freezer, and roll/stretch to a thin rectangular form. Cut Isosceles triangles(yes, we're doing a little math here).

Roll the triangles starting at the bottom to the tip and place on pan. Cover with cloth and let rice; turn oven to 350 degrees. Using a brush, put the egg wash on top of each croissant. Then add to oven; cook for 10-15 min. Serve with honey butter, either melted or as a spread.

World of Beer BEERUNCH and Giveaway

Last month I was invited out to experience World of Beer in Sugarland, TX. It was the weekend of my brother's birthday, so we took a little trip to the Sugarland Town Center. World of Beer Sugarland has been open for a little over a year, and has been offering brunch for only a few months. But get this, since it is the World of Beer and all, this meal is called a BEERunch(cool huh?)

World of Beer made sure nobody was left behind. As you walk in, your eyes will naturally travel towards their nicely stocked bar, at which you can enjoy 61 taps, and over 500 different beers.  Not all at once, obviously!Their local and international beers are sure to be a conversation starter. You also have the chance to sit down and catch a sports game/event or two as you order some food to go with your beverage.

Popular contenders are the German Pretzel, the skillet and tacos for brunch. We ordered the skillet and tacos for brunch, and swallowed it all down with their beermosa, which is a take on the popular mimosa but served with beer instead( neat right?)The location also hosts several weekly events such as; trivia night, game/fight nights, brewery takeovers, and musical performances.

There's a big UFC fight this weekend, so I thought why not give someone the chance to experience this fight in an environment suited for it? Or maybe you just want a beer and some food. Whatever the case, one lucky person will receive a gift card, beer glass and a cooler from World of Beer. Must be a local resident of Houston, TX to apply. Visit @brunchandconversation on Instagram to enter. All items are courtesy of World of Beer. Winner will be contacted on Friday, December 11.
Update: Congratulations to @lovelyintexas for winning the giveaway. Thank you everyone for entering.
