Best Places to Take Mom on Mother's Day

Mother's Day is right around the corner, and if you plan on treating mommy to a day outing, you might want to start making and finalizing your plans now. Still not sure where to go? I've got the hot places in Houston offering Mother's Day brunch.

Enoteca Rossa Ristorante Italiano
Craving European-styled cuisine? Enoteca Rossa Ristorante Italiano is one of the city's new comers, offering traditional Italian dishes, prepared with quality ingredients in a casual chic establishment, with great service. Enoteca Rossa invites you to come enjoy an a-la-carte brunch with  complimentary house-made desserts, on Mother's Day from 11a-3p. I recently had the pleasure of having brunch at this restaurant, and oh what authenticity. From breakfast, lunch and dessert, you're sure to learn a thing or two about the Italian culture. The brick walls, wood ceillings and empacable lighting give it a casual but yet chic atmosphere that your mother will love.

Tony Mandola's Gulf Coast Kitchen
A New Orleans style Oyster Bar and Seafood House, with an Italian flair. Tony Mandola's new executive Chef, Juan Arrellano, has begun serving his newest a-la-carte brunch menu, and invites you over for Saturday and Sunday brunch. On a recent visit, I had the Lobster Omelette, made with a butter poached lobster, topped with mozzarella cheese and avocado. Be sure to ask for a brunch cocktail to go with your food, oh and maybe a cup of gumbo.

Harold's Restaurant Bar & Terrace
Harold's will be serving a $45 4-course brunch on Mother's Day, from 10a-4p. They will treat each mom to a complimentary MOMosa and starter for the table. Chef Antoine Ware will highlight some delicious items like; Housemade pork tamales, Croque Madame, PB&J bread pudding and much more. Visit their website for reservations.

The Tuck Room
Your mom loves the bubbles? Then treat her to the ultimate mimosa bar experience at The Tuck Room. They'll provide the fresh fruit juices, purees, garnishes and food; all you have to do is bring mom. The Tuck Room is a den-like lounge, tucked away in the ever growing River Oak District Shopping center. This restaurant-lounge brings together the creations of award winning Chef Sherry Yard and Master Mixologist Adam Seger, in a sophisticated lounge. You can even catch a movie at iPic after, Mother's Day will be airing. Be sure to reserve early.

Maybe your mom enjoys spending time by the water. Treat her to a Mother's Day brunch, lunch or dinner as you cruise down Clear Lake & Galveston Bay. You'll enjoy a meal, drinks and live entertainment; hell, might as well bring the whole family. Make sure to make your reservation here.

How about South African-Fusion cuisine? Y'all know I love Peli Peli, and no I'm not biased because I'm of African decent. Peli Peli's food is actually delicious and quite diverse. Plus, they were Houston Press's Best Brunch nominee in '15. There will be steak, chicken, seafood and other favorites. Make your reservation here.

Another one of my favorites. Songkran will be serving a special Mother's Day dinner on May 6-7, and traditional thai breakfast on Mother's day. Go forth and enjoy some thai cuisine, and maybe take her shopping afterwards. Make reservations soon.

OMG, this looks fun! Hopefully your mom isn't a pro cook and will be able to go with the flow. Cooking classes are a good way to bond over something that is important to all of us. After all, that's what "eating at the table" is supposed to be for. You'll be welcomed with a glass of Mimosa and get straight to work. This will be a hands on class and you will be able to eat what you prepare. Click here for reservations.
