Ambiance:
Today I went to the Memorial location of Three Brothers Bakery in Houston, TXThe inside of the bakery was very simple and clean and the display cases were filled with several types of goodies to drool over while the friendly clerks could be seen cutting cakes behind the counter. The overall ambiance of the establishment was very composed and hospitable.

What I ate:
Everything in the display cases looked oh-so delightfully edible, so it was hard to choose just one treat to take home and make sweet love to enjoy. After several rounds of eeny-meeny-miney-moeended up ordering a chocolate macaroon and a chocolate éclair.

Neither one of the treats was hot and fresh, but both were scrumptious. The chocolate macaroon almost tasted like an Almond Joy and was so packed on the inside that even a bite of the tiny pastry still felt like a mouthful. The chocolate topping on the éclair was perfectly whipped and the filling in the middle was smooth, creamy and decadent. This place will definitely be added to my list of frequentpick-me-ups, but I’ll be sure to pop my treat into a microwave next time before digging in!

Houston, TX

Ambiance:
SWEET is located across the Grub Burger Bar and Urban Outfitters at the Houston City Centre. The establishment is the epitome of cool and calm with well-placed displays of their sweet treats and an extensive menu that includes teas, coffees and gluten-free options. The staff is friendly, efficient and more than willing to help you narrow down your options should you be struggling to resist the urge to purchase one of everything. Parking close to the bakery can be kind of tricky depending on the time of day, so I suggest parking in the Lifetime Athletic parking garage. Yes, parking is free.

What I ate:
Once I found out that it was National Macaroon Day and the bakery was selling macaroons for a dollar each, I hightailed my behind down to SWEET after work without a second thought. I made a b-line for the glass display that held the tiny treats that were perfectly organized by flavor, and ordered 4 macaroons: one espresso, one honey lavender, one salted caramel and one vanilla bean. Of course, this decision was made after minutes of over-thinking each flavor and drooling over the tower of macaroons that almost seemed to be taunting me throughout my deliberation. Like ya. We get it. You’re all delicious.

The macaroons were absolutely lovely. They were moist, sweet without being overwhelming and the perfect amount of desert to satisfy my sweet tooth. I will definitely be going back soon!
