We are officially in the second week of Houston Restaurant Weeks. I was doing a little travelling at the end of last week that I didnt' get time to add this menu to the list. This was another Landmark restaurant menu that I was invited to try. Hearsay Gastro Lounge is an upscale chic eatery located in one of the oldest buildings near Market Street Downtown. I remember the first time I visited this restaurant(for work purposes), I thought it was the most upscale next to most of the bars that I had visited that day. The dim indoor lighting, tall ceilings, brick walls, beautiful chandelier and hanging light bulbs give it a chic-yet-casual feel.
Chef Kelly Boyd, who I came to find out is one of the most interesting chef to hear talk about food, introduced us to a three course meal for Houston Restaurant Weeks. Hearsay will be offering a $22 brunch, $20 lunch and a $35 dinner; they will be donating $3 from the brunch/lunch and $5 from dinner to the Houston Food Bank.

| Smoked Gouda Tomato Bisque: You can literally keep eating this. I didn't know you could melt cheese to the smoothness of a soup. ( Brunch-Lunch) |
 |
Crispy Confit of Duck: Buckwheat blinis, apricot and chive creame fraiche. The duck me tasted a little weird, but they apricot and creame fraiche did a good job at masking that odd meat taste. ( Dinner) Pickled Deviled Eggs: Crusted wasabi peas, candied leeks, bacon. The candied leeks were the seller in this dish, recommended! (Brunch, Lunch) |
 |
| The Greek Chicken Pasta: Pulled herb roasted chicken tossed in bucatini pasta, spinach, kalamata olives, oregano pesto, feta cheese. On refreshing pasta, the olives paired really nicely. Maybe a little dry but your glass of wine will take care of that! (lunch) |
 |
Harissa Braised Lamb Shank: Charred baby carrots on saffron polenta. The meat was just falling right off the bone! ( Dinner)
Raspberry Cheesecake Mousse: Create take on cheesecake, in a glass! Refreshingly tasteful! |

Another day another preview, right!? This preview was part of Landmark Hospitality's Houston Restaurant Weeks preview for three of their restaurants. I dined with the staff from the three restaurants and had a chance to get any questions answered to to also get some insight into their world. Most of you have probably been to
51fifteen or at least seen their outdoor sign at the Galleria. If you haven't dined there, this is a perfect place to dine after a long day of shopping, because the restaurant is located on the second floor of the newly
revamped Saks Fifth Avenue wing. This beautifully designed version of 51fifteen scream modern elegance, with granite walls, blue velvet dining booths, golden accents and sleek lighting.
You know what can mess up a writer's whole day? Writing a bomb article and having it accidentally deleted. That's pretty much what happened to me with this post, so here's to hoping I remember everything I had written. As promised this week, I'm sharing my favorite dishes from a few Houston Restaurant Weeks menu preview dinners I recently attended. One of them was Amalfi Ristorante Italiano, an Italian restaurant off of Westheimer, in between Fountain View and South Voss.
I had the pleasure of previewing the
Houston Restaurant Weeks menu for
Ginger & Fork, a Chinese restaurant in the Heights. Restaurant Owner and Culinary Director, Mary Li, opened Ginger & Fork in order to introduce native Chinese dishes to the inner city dwellers. Ginger & Fork serves exotic dishes influenced by Hong Kong and the Canton provinces, paired with great wines and crafted cocktails.
